Stage & Event management is the central point of communication between the rehearsal room and all other departments of any production...Event & Stage Manager oversees everything that goes on in the rehearsal room and onstage, communicating this to the technical departments and the wider organisation . Event & Stage managers typically provide practical and organizational support to the director, actors, designers, stage crew and technicians throughout the production process. They also are the director's representative during performances, making sure that the production runs smoothly 

Simply it's their job to disappear into the darkness of the backstage. Performers are out in the light. They are the Batman of the performing arts -- disappearing into the shadows instead. 

All events including performances request the presence of a professional Event Planner with high level experience in Event Management & Stage Management to organize, show call, run rehearsals, play the full operations and production parts.

As for the Television Shows , they definitely demand the presence of a high skilled Event & Stage Manager His role is especially important to the director as they always work side by side.
